Behind-The-Scenes with Nash+Banks

At Nash+Banks we believe that making better choices isn't just a possibility but is essential in today's world. Our guiding principle, "inspiring positive change," encapsulates our unwavering dedication to operating as sustainably, ethically, and consciously as possible. From our very inception, our core mission has been to seek out remarkable brands, amplify their voices, and forge connections with consumers who share our values. We chat with founder, Niccii Kugler to delve a little deeper and give you more of an insight of Nash+Banks behind-the-scenes...

“Every decision we make, whether big or small, is guided by a steadfast resolve to minimise harm and maximise positive influence,” says Niccii. “From the brands we showcase to the stakeholders we engage with, sustainability is not merely an afterthought but a fundamental aspect of our business ethos.”

*  Partnering with Eco-Conscious Brands

“We believe that the journey towards sustainability is best travelled together. That's why we exclusively partner with brands that share our values and adhere to the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility. From fashion to home goods, each brand in our collection is carefully vetted to ensure that their products meet our stringent sustainability criteria.”

"In our research of the brands that we work with, they are all doing their utmost to operate by minimising waste as much as possible, by being as sustainable as possible, or as ethical or both. For us, it's very, very important that Nash+Banks not only holds our brands to that standard, but we hold ourselves to that standard," explains Niccii.

* Ethical Sourcing and Production

"Making better possible and having a business that runs as sustainably, ethically, and consciously as possible is at the foundation of our business," says Niccii. "It's literally the reason the business started in the first place – to find great brands, to amplify them, and to connect them with consumers."

“Our brands are committed to ethical sourcing and production practices, prioritising fair wages, safe working conditions, and respect for the communities and ecosystems from which their materials are sourced. By choosing to support these brands, our customers can feel confident that their purchases are making a positive impact on both people and the planet.”

* Transparency and Accountability

“Transparency is key to building trust with our customers, which is why we're committed to providing full visibility into our partners' practices and processes. From the origins of our materials to the methods used in production, we strive to be open and honest about the environmental and social impact of the products we curate. And we hold ourselves and our partners accountable to continually improve and evolve towards greater sustainability.”

“Every decision we make, whether it's in selecting partners or designing our physical store, is guided by a commitment to minimise harm and maximise positive impact. We invest time and effort into researching and vetting stakeholders to ensure that every aspect of our business reflects our dedication to sustainability.”

“On our journey, we've discovered that the brands we partner with share our commitment to minimising waste, promoting sustainability, and prioritising ethical practices. It's not just about what we sell; it's about the impact we make collectively. For example, our banking partner, Bank Australia, is B Corp-certified and known for its ethical investments and transparency; and our green energy provider, Diamond Energy, reflects our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint.”

* Reducing Waste and Carbon Footprint

“Through our curated approach, we're able to minimise waste and reduce our carbon footprint by eliminating the need for excessive inventory,” says Niccii. “By focusing on quality over quantity and offering timeless pieces that transcend trends, we encourage mindful consumption and reduce the environmental impact.”

"We are lucky in the store in terms of minimising waste. We are very fortunate that the brands we work with are already in the same space as us. So most of the brands or most of the incoming shipments that come into the business are very sustainably packaged for the most part.”

"Even the small details matter. We've made conscious choices like favouring digital receipts to minimise paper waste and potential health hazards associated with receipt printer dyes. We also diligently repurpose packaging materials and minimise waste wherever feasible.”

“From Forest Steward Council-certified cardboard to compostable packing tape, every element of our packaging is selected to minimise our environmental impact. Our gift wrapping isn't just visually beautiful, it's a reflection of our ethos, utilising hemp string and vegetable dyes.”

* A Commitment to Continuous Improvement

“At Nash+Banks, sustainability isn't a destination—it's a journey of continuous improvement. We're constantly seeking out new ways to reduce our environmental footprint,” concludes Niccii.

“By remaining true to our values, we not only hope to offer superior designed products and uncompromising quality, but also responsibility and respect for our planet. Together, we can pave the way for a brighter, more sustainable future.”
